Who Are We?
Tachyon is actually the name of a hypothetical particle, one that doesn’t exist in reality. This particle is said to move faster than light itself. Inspired by this idea, we named our science organization Tachyon. Our tagline, “The Science of Imagination,” reflects our belief that there are many things in the universe that lie beyond our reach, things we may only grasp through imagination. With a dream to capture those elusive wonders, Tachyon officially began its journey on November 28, 2020, with the publication of the very first issue of Tachyon Magazine.
What Do We Do?
Science Magazine
To make scientific ideas accessible and meaningful to everyone, we publish an online science magazine called Tachyon. The magazine features articles on recent scientific developments, in-depth explanations, and expert opinions making it a trusted platform for thoughtful discussions on science and discovery.
Study Circles
Study circles both online and offline are arranged to bring inquisitive people together. The idea is simple: gather enthusiasts in one place to share ideas, exchange thoughts, and explore science in a casual, friendly way. Usually, participants join to discuss a preselected topic, making it an open space for conversation and curiosity.
Bridging Science and Society
In a world often divided by socio-economic inequality and differing belief systems, we strive to make science accessible, relatable, and inspiring to all.
Our goal is to break down the barriers that keep knowledge confined within a privileged few and to create a space where curiosity transcends class, culture, and conviction.
Courses
Tachyon has launched some free and paid courses with hands-on experience for all ranges of ages. With the help of our experienced instructors, students have already used their learned skills in research projects.
Collaborations
We believe, science in a developing country cannot progress without a collaborative approach. Tachyon welcomes any kind of collaboration from persons/organizations to promote science in Bangladesh.
Integration Bee
We are organizing a remote, open book, team based Integration Bee exam since 2020. Every year on October, students from different institutes participate in this competition to show case their calculus skills.
Achievements
Through the online science magazine Tachyon, a new and innovative approach to science communication in Bangladesh began.
In recognition of this unique initiative, Tachyon received the “Young Entrepreneurs Award” in 2021! Among more than 3,000 initiatives from across the country, Tachyon proudly secured a place in the Top 50.
Tachyon has been featured in in newspapers, as well as Tachyon’s Founder, K M Shariat Ullah has given multiple talks on science education including in TEDxTalks and Bangla Academy.
